Optimized Resolutions
- Be wary of companies who try to use thick, dark watermarks to hide the fact that
their smaller resolutions are "not optimized", and subsequently "lacking in clarity".
Our samples are provided with thin, unobtrusive watermarks to demonstrate the hand-editing
that goes into each resolution.
- Due to the realism of
vista icons,
manual optimization is necessary to ensure customers can actually "use" the icons
they purchase from an icon vendor.
Why Optimization is
so Important
- Notice the exceptional clarity of our 16x16 resolutions (as shown in the first toolbar
below). This type of work is only possible by someone who is highly skilled in the
intricacies of icon design. Simply downsizing a source, hi-res, or vector image
will not produce
this type of quality.
- Skinny, blurry, or indecipherable 16x resolutions are a sure sign that the icons
are not optimized (see second example). This saves icon vendors time and money and
helps them to produce large numbers of icons in a short period of time. Unfortunately
up to 95% of these images may be unusable, depending on the size and concept that
is being utilized.
