I have a general question not directly related to your xp collections?
You will probably want to read our Stock Icon FAQ instead. It contains answers to most general questions such as ordering, etc. Otherwise we encourage you to continue reading below.

Each xp icon set includes the following:
16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x48 in .ICO format
16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x48, 72x72 in .PNG, .BMP, .JPG, and .GIF formats

Note: Some sets also include 128x128 versions.

Normal and Disabled versions in each format.
Categorized .PDF file containing a complete list of the images.

Will xp icons display properly in a Windows 2000 (or other legacy) application?
Yes, although there are some (possible) restrictions. Depending on the user's monitor settings, the icons will appear differently at lower color-depth settings. This would also be true for Windows XP. Since the icons will work even at 256 colors, this may or may not be an issue of concern. The real question to ask is not what operating system your target audience is using, but rather the average color depth. It is our opinion that most users on Windows XP run at (24-bit and 32-bit color), and users on Windows 2000 (16-bit or 24-bit color). Since the majority of users will be using 16-bit and above you can feel confident that our xp icons will look great in your application or website.

My application and/or target operating system only supports 256 colors; can I still use your icons?
Yes, but the icons will not look as crisp as the other standard color depths.

Will an XP icon display properly on a Windows 2000 desktop?
Yes, but you will have to use an 8-bit (256 color) version of the image. For more information on this, please see our Implementation FAQ.

I am developing an application for a platform that supports only 4-bit (16 colors). Do you have any recommendations on a style that would work well in this setting?
Although our Outline Style Icons are geared primarily towards web use, they will also work well in legacy applications that operate on extremely-low color settings.

Will your xp style icons continue to work well with upcoming operating systems such as Windows Vista?
Absolutely. Since graphic formats are interchangeable, you can expect each of our xp icon sets to transition seamlessly to future operating systems. Although it will be quite awhile before this happens, rest assured that your icons will continue looking great and operating correctly.
